Ordre du mérite

The "Ordre du mérite du commerce de détail" highlights the leadership, vision and innovative spirit of Quebec retailers. Since 1996, it honours retailers who contribute to the sector's reputation, increase its visibility province-wide and define its future.

Supporting Quebec talent

The "Ordre du mérite" recognizes Quebec retailers

• who use their management talents to mobilize their employees;
• whose operational efficiency ensures the growth of their business;
• whose creativity sets them apart;
• whose social involvement earns them the respect of the community.

Do you work for a chamber of commerce in Quebec or a local organization and know someone who has owned or managed a retail business for at least five years? If you think that person is eligible for the "Ordre du mérite," you may sponsor his or her candidacy. Retailers and business managers may also request your support in submitting their candidacies.

To qualify

The candidate must have owned or managed the same retail business (sale or rental of consumer products) for at least five years. The person's leadership and involvement are influential within his or her community and region. This retailer (or his or her business) must be sponsored by a local or regional organization, such as a chamber of commerce

Advantages of participation

Apart from the trophy, the winner of the "Ordre du mérite" will receive exceptional exposure as well as peer recognition. In addition,

• the winner will participate in the official awards ceremony held during the Retail Convention, and (along with a guest) will receive one night's accommodation at the hotel hosting the event;
• the winner will receive a certificate of achievement from the Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade;
• the winner will be featured in a news release published in the weekly newspapers represented by Réseau Sélect in his or her region;
• the winner will be featured in a news release and an audio-visual vignette to be shown during the awards ceremony;
• the winner will receive a 50% discount on his or her Retail Convention registration.
