Sustainable Development
Sustainable development is a major concern for society as a whole. Distributors and retailers are aware of their responsibilities and are becoming more and more actively involved in this area.
With the support of its Environment Committee, the CQCD
- is keeping a close watch on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Act, adopted by the Quebec government in April 2006. This purpose of this law is to provide the government with a framework for accountability that fosters environmental protection, economic efficiency and the quality of life of individuals.
- is concerned with the following principles:
- responsible production and consumption;
- polluter pays;
- internalization of environmental costs;
- economic efficiency.
- studies all environmental issues that could have concrete repercussions on the retail sector (for example, energy efficiency).
