All businesses conducting operations in Quebec are required to use French. The Charter of the French Language includes provisions that apply to every business, regardless of size. It grants consumers the right to be informed and served in French. The retail sector also has the obligation to offer products to Quebecers in French (including accompanying documentation). Bill 19 amends the Labour Standards Act to prohibit an employer from having work performed by a child under the age of 14 and amends the Regulation respecting labour standards to determine cases and conditions under which this prohibition does not apply. Additionally, it specifies that the number of hours of work that an employer can require from a child subject to compulsory school attendance cannot exceed 17 hours per week or 10 hours from Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n
